RESIDENTS in the Winyates and Matchborough area of Redditch are urged to stay vigilant after a car and a shed were broken into at the weekend.

West Mercia Police have highlighted the incidents on their Neighbourhood Matters website.

A car was broken into on Sunday (July 14) in Jackfield Close, with a number of items taken, and a shed was also broken into over the weekend in Wolverton Close.

PCSO Weronika Syrzan, who covers the Winyates and Matchborough area, urged residents in the area to be vigilant and ensure their vehicles and sheds are kept locked overnight and to report any suspicious activity by calling police on 101 or contacting officers via the West Mercia Police website.

Residents are also advised to park in well-lit areas, consider fitting a steering wheel lock and to consider installing CCTV to look out onto any sheds and outbuildings to deter any unwanted criminal activity.
