A Redditch-based company has provided over 10,000 meals and reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 23 tonnes in the space of a month.

Oakland International, a total supply chain solutions provider, teamed up with food redistribution charity, City Harvest London, for the initiative.

The company offers services such as direct to consumer, case consolidation, contract packing, storage and distribution, food tempering and brand and development support for all types of food.

Its combined charitable efforts saw 12,172 meals provided to people experiencing food poverty.

In June the company contributed 5.1 tonnes of food, preventing it from going to waste.

City Harvest then distributed the surplus food to people unable to afford healthy meals.

In the previous year, Oakland donated 149,253 kilograms of food, providing 355,364 meals and averting 472,515 kilograms of greenhouse gas emissions.
