A manufacturing business in Redditch is set to celebrate its 50th anniversary in the town.
Centaur, which is located at Pipers Road on the Park Farm Industrial Estate, was founded in 1974 and is preparing to mark five decades of British manufacturing.
To mark the big milestone, a small group of employees are set to take on a 50-mile charity walk.
The walk is set to raise vital funds for Macmillan Cancer Support which is a cause consistently supported by the business over the years.
Engineering and maintenance supervisor at Centaur Dan Longmuir said: "This walk is a good way to represent Centaur's journey, each mile representing each year that Centaur has been manufacturing and the hills will represent the ups and downs that the business has had to overcome each year.
"It will be a challenge, but we will see every next mile as a target and each mile completed as an achievement, exactly the way Centaur does for each year of manufacturing.
"Walking 50 miles is a challenge that I am proud I am undertaking to represent Centaur's 50 years of British manufacturing in Redditch, but also to be supporting Macmillan a wonderful charity in the process."
Centaur produces PVCu cable products and helps support the education, healthcare and commercial sectors.
The business moved to its current location in 1987 with the new facility more than doubling its manufacturing footprint.
The manufacturing business has continued to go from strength to strength over the years with Centaur extending its "heartfelt appreciation" to its workforce and customers.
In a statement, Centaur said: "We couldn’t celebrate this 50-year achievement without extending our heartfelt appreciation to our workforce, who have been the backbone of our success.
"With lengths of service upwards of 45 years, their loyalty and hard work have shaped the business we celebrate this year.
"As we extend our gratitude to all who have played a part in our first 50 years, we eagerly await the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead."
The charity walk will take place on Thursday, August 22 at 4.30pm with the team set to walk continuously through the night.
By walking 50 miles, the team hopes to mark both the anniversary and to help contribute to a cause that makes a huge difference in the lives of those who are affected by cancer.
