An action-packed summer of fun and entertainment is set to take place in Redditch this month.

Redditch Borough Council is encouraging people to "take a walk on the wild side" during the school holidays as dinosaurs are let loose in the town as part of its Programme of Summer Fun.

The event kicks off on Thursday, August 1 at Arrow Valley Park with a Glamba Drumming Workshop followed by a Punch and Judy Show from Professor Collywobbles on Friday, August 2 at Morton Stanley Park.

Skateboard and scooter squad sessions will also be held as well as hula hoop workshops at both parks taking place at 12.30pm, 1.30pm and 3pm.

On Thursday, August 8, there is also a Jurassic Valley Dinosaur Takeover at Arrow Valley Park where visitors can meet 'real' dinosaurs and dig for fossils.

The programme is free for everyone to attend.

Councillor Juliet Barker-Smith, Redditch Borough Council's portfolio holder for leisure, said: "The Programme of Summer Fun is absolutely mammoth with something for everyone to enjoy including me as I am very fond of diplodocuses and triceratops.

"Please help us to spread the word and tell your friends and family so as many people as possible enjoy the summer fun."

Council leader Joe Baker added: "Summer holidays can mean extra pressure for some families particularly financial.

"So I am delighted that this fun-filled programme is free and accessible to all."
