A plan to build 241 new homes on the boundary between Bromsgrove and Redditch has been approved.

The proposal, which has been granted by Bromsgrove District Council and Redditch Borough Council, was submitted by Persimmon Homes South Midlands as part of The View development.

The new homes, which will be located on land in Brockhill East, will make up the fifth phase of the wider scheme.

In a statement, the developers said the new homes will help "address local housing needs".

The design of the housing development is set to be completed to a high specification and will be in keeping with the aesthetics of the local area.

A total of 99 homes at the site will also be transferred to a housing association partner for rent and shared ownership as part of a commitment to providing affordable housing.

Russell Griffin, managing director at Persimmon Homes South Midlands, said: "We're delighted that Bromsgrove District and Redditch Borough Councils have voted to approve the fifth phase of our development at The View.

"This scheme will provide a mix of homes helping to meet the housing needs of the Redditch area as well as providing local jobs and apprenticeships as part of the construction of the development.

"We're committed to creating vibrant, successful communities and supporting more local families in getting their dream homes.

"We'll continue to work in partnership with local authorities and stakeholders to ensure our developments deliver real benefits for the communities they are based in."

As part of the Persimmon and Charles Church's wider development at Redditch, more than £7.23 million will be paid to support infrastructure delivery and ensure economic development.

The developers said this includes highways, public transport, education, sports and public open space contributions.
