POLICE have shared CCTV images of a woman they want to speak to after an alleged hate crime in a supermarket

The incident happened in the Oakenshaw Tesco store in Redditch last month.

Redditch Police have said that a woman became abusive to another woman on a mobility scooter by calling her insulting names and suggesting she was not disabled.

Officers also said that after the two continued shopping and were in separate aisles, a can of food was allegedly thrown over the aisle to where the victim was stood, but no one was hit.

In a post on Facebook, Redditch Police shared images of a woman they would like to identify.

The force said: "Can you help us identify the woman in these pictures?

"We would like to speak to this person as she may be able to help us with our enquiries following an alleged hate crime in Tesco’s supermarket in Oakenshaw, Redditch last month.

"On Wednesday 11 July at approximately 4.50pm, a woman on a mobility scooter noticed a young child climbing up a trolley and stated to them to be careful.

"Following this another woman became abusive to her calling her insulting names regarding her physical appearance and suggested she was not actually disabled.

"Both parties carried on shopping but, shortly after, while the victim was in the cereal aisle and the suspect in the aisle next to them, the suspect allegedly threw a can of food over the aisle to where the victim was stood. Fortunately, the projectile did not strike anyone.

"The woman, or anyone who thinks they may know who she is, should contact PC Kimberley Alimov of Redditch Police on 07980 931952 or via email on Kimberley.alimov1@westmercia.police.uk".
