A police helicopter was spotted flying over a shopping centre in Redditch yesterday.
Residents reported a large police presence around the Kingfisher Shopping Centre with a helicopter circling the area.
West Mercia Police have now confirmed that they were called to the car park of the shopping centre at around 3.30pm yesterday (Thursday, August 8).
It followed concerns that a boy was seen with what was believed to be a knife.
A thorough search of the area was carried out but no weapon was identified.
A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "Police were called to the car park of the Kingfisher Shopping Centre at around 3.30pm yesterday (Thursday, August 8) following concerns that a boy was seen with what was believed to be a knife.
"Officers attended and identified the boy. A thorough search of the area was carried and no weapon was identified. No arrests were made, however the boy was spoken to and taken home."
