Farming clubs in Worcestershire have joined forces to hold a special charity competition.

Inkberrow and Bromsgrove Young Farmers Clubs are set to host a Worcester Charity Speed Shear event this bank holiday weekend in Redditch.

The event will see experienced sheep shearers compete against the clock to shear a lamb faster and better than anyone else.

Classes include junior, intermediate, senior and veteran with the competition set to take place on Sunday (August 25) at Brookhouse Farm with kind permission from Sam Jones.

The shearers will need to sign in at 4pm with the event being open to the public from 5pm.

A spokesperson for Inkberrow YFC said: "The purpose of the event is to raise money for MacMillan and Yellow Wellies, two charities which we believe play a huge part in supporting the agricultural industry.

"The evening will include a bar, BBQ, live folk band and charity auction."

The clubs will also be running a 'Peel and Pint' class where a team of three will work together against the clock with one person shearing a lamb, one downing a pint and the last person will be peeling an orange.

The event has been kindly sponsored by Fews Marquees, M P Wood Groundworks, NFU Mutual Bromsgrove, McCartneys Worcester, Allelys Transport, Phil Collins Agricultural Services, Steve Morris & Co Ltd, S.E. Davis & Son Ltd.
