REDDITCH mums are being urged to meet up and move to improve their physical and mental health as a new initiative is rolled out across the borough.

The scheme will see mums and carers, after dropping off children at school, getting together for a walk and a chat.

'Health Walks for Moms', led by volunteers, aims to improve physical and mental health and will suit all abilities who can choose their own pace.

Councillor Juliet Barker Smith, portfolio holder for leisure on Redditch Borough Council, said: “This is a brilliant new activity being introduced that could greatly benefit the physical and mental wellbeing of those taking part. Parenting is extremely stressful at times and these sessions will provide a free opportunity to get out into the fresh air and to meet others to share experiences with.”

Starting Friday 13th of September, the free weekly sessions are run by the Redditch Council and supported by Worcestershire Health Walks.

Anyone that wants to take part in these events should meet outside the Boathouse Café in Arrow Valley Countryside Centre for the first session on Friday 13th of September at 9:30am.
