Cody Fisher: Mum and aunt of killer Carpenter in court

The 23-year-old, from Redditch, was fatally stabbed at the Crane nightclub in Birmingham.

Jahzeen Carpenter, aged 39, and Nadine Taylor, 44, are accused of helping Kami Carpenter avoid arrest in the days after the murder of Mr Fisher. Jahzeen is the mum of Carpenter, while Nadine is her sister and his aunt.

They are both charged with assisting Carpenter by transporting him to London in possession of suitcases and belongings intending to take him to an airport to leave the country, with the intention to impede the apprehension or prosecution of Kami Carpenter.

The pair, of Peak Drive, Lower Gornal, Dudley, appeared before magistrates on Tuesday this week.

They were released on bail to appear before Wolverhampton Crown Court on October 8.

Remy Gordon, aged 23, of Cofton Park Drive, Birmingham, and Kami Carpenter, aged 22, of Owens Croft, Kings Norton, were jailed for life with a minimum of 26 and 25 years respectively for killing Mr Fisher on Boxing Day, 2022. The two defendants blamed each other for the stabbing.

A third defendant was convicted of affray but cleared of murder.

A 10-week trial was told Mr Fisher was attacked with a weapon smuggled through security into Digbeth’s Crane nightclub before a pre-planned “act of retribution” for a minor incident two days earlier.

The court heard Gordon sent messages on Snapchat to friends around 45 minutes after the initial incident, appealing for help to identify a photograph of Mr Fisher and threatening to “shank him up”.

Mobile phone footage of the victim lying on the floor after he was stabbed in the chest and leg by Carpenter was shown to the court.

Mr Fisher was a former Birmingham City academy player who also played for Stratford Town and Bromsgrove Sporting, Stourbridge FC and the Kidderminster Harriers Academy in his footballing career.
