A Worcester school has been named as the top independent co-educational school in the West Midlands.

RGS Worcester was recognised by The Daily Telegraph for its exceptional A-level and BTEC results, which marked its best-ever academic performance.

More than 90 per cent of the A-level grades achieved were between A* and B.

Additionally, the school has also been named as a finalist in the Independent School of the Year Awards.

The RGS Worcester Family of Schools, which includes four RGS schools, was also named as a finalist in the awards.

The accolades coincide with headmaster John Pitt's tenth year leading the school.

As he enters his eleventh year, Mr Pitt reflected on the school's continued success.

He said: "I have really enjoyed the last ten years which have flown by.

"I have really enjoyed seeing the pupils seize the opportunities at RGS and achieve amazing things in so many areas: academic, drama, music, sport, debating – the list goes on, and I am so proud of them.

"I am hugely appreciative of the hard work and commitment of the staff; they are superb.

"My family and I are also very grateful for the encouragement and support of parents and alumni."

He added: "When I started ten years ago, I thought RGS had incredible potential in all areas.

"It is lovely to see that potential being realised and there is always more we can do and lots of new initiatives to keep encouraging us to be the best we can be - and to keep me busy."

From being named one of the top 20 nursery groups in the UK by Daynurseries to the academic success of its sixth-form students, the RGS Worcester Family of Schools continues to excel at every stage of a child’s educational journey.
