THE Walton Close car park in Winyates will be temporarily closed for two days later next month for essential improvement work and resurfacing.

The car park, accessed via Winyates Way, will be completely closed on October 15 and 16 so that it can be resurfaced.

Additionally, the car park will have reduced access on October 14 so that some preliminary works can take place.

The work focuses on the central section of the car park, but the entire parking facility will be closed for the duration of the works.

The old surfacing will be planed off before new surfacing is put down and the lines painted back on.

Redditch Borough Council is asking for residents remove their cars from this area and the car park before the works begin on October 15.

The work, to be completed by the council’s contractors Kelbec, will be noisy and dusty and cars left in close proximity to the works are left at the owners’ risk, as the planing of the old tarmac could cause damage.

Portfolio Holder for Environmental Services, Cllr. Sharon Harvey, said: “This work is part of an ongoing programme of improvement working for parking facilities in the town. We apologise for any inconvenience this causes residents, but do hope the improved facilities will be worth the two days of closure.”

This work forms part of a bigger ongoing improvement project around the borough.
