A BOYBAND star will kickstart the festive season in Redditch when he performs at its annual Christmas Extravaganza.
This year’s festivities promise to be especially memorable, as singer and JLS star Aston Merrygold will make a special appearance at the Christmas lights switch-on event.
The annual Christmas Extravaganza, hosted by Redditch BID, is scheduled for Saturday, December 7.
A full day of celebration will start at noon in Redditch Town Centre, inviting residents, families, and visitors from surrounding areas to gather for a day filled with entertainment and activities.
Aston Merrygold will take part in a meet and greet in Kingfisher Redditch before he performs.
Aston rose to fame after JLS finished as runners-up on the fifth series of "The X Factor" in 2008.
The group's catchy hits, including "Beat Again," "Everybody in Love," and "Love You More," quickly made them a household name in the UK.
In addition to the much-anticipated Extravaganza Show, attendees can look forward to an array of family-oriented activities set to delight visitors of all ages.
The event will showcase live musical performances, festive market stalls brimming with seasonal treats, and an assortment of refreshments to enjoy throughout the day.
Local artists and performers will be performing on the day.
Muj Rahman, Redditch BID manager, said: “This year’s Christmas Extravaganza is poised to be a truly magical occasion for everyone involved.”
“We are extremely excited to welcome Aston Merrygold as our special guest, and we can hardly wait to witness the joy and excitement on the faces of our community members as we celebrate the festivities.
"It’s an incredible opportunity for all of us to come together and celebrate the spirit of the season.”
Last year, pop star Peter Andre attracted thousands to the town centre when he performed at the event.
