The head chef of a Midlands group of care homes has been shortlisted for a prestigious award.

Anas Al Saadi, who leads the culinary team at Macc Care, has been nominated for the 2024 Care Home Cook/Chef Award at the Great British Care Awards.

This recognition comes as the care group, which includes Studley Rose Care Home, continues to be celebrated for its high standards with a recent series of accolades, including nominations for the Social Care Leadership Awards, National Care Awards, Caring UK Awards, and a place in Carehome.co.uk's Top 20 Rated Care Home Groups for 2024.

Mr Al Saadi has been acknowledged for his "transformative approach to dining".

He has focused on creating menus that are both nutritious and enjoyable, leading to consistent five star Environmental Health Ratings at all 14 Macc Care homes.

Mr Al Saadi said: "It's truly an honour to be shortlisted for such a respected award.

"Cooking for the residents at Macc Care is not just about preparing food, it's about creating experiences that bring joy, comfort, and a sense of home."

He has been credited for his dedication to quality and safety in using fresh, local ingredients to meet the diverse dietary needs of residents.

Bhav Amlani, spokesperson for the care group, said: "We are incredibly proud of Anas and all that he has achieved.

"His culinary skills, combined with his genuine care for our residents, make him an invaluable member of our team.

"This nomination is a testament to his hard work and the positive impact he has on our homes."

The awards celebrate those who have "demonstrated outstanding excellence in their field" within the care sector.

The winners are set to be announced at a gala event later this year.
