Photos have captured the aftermath of the heavy rain and flooding that hit parts of Worcestershire.

Roads were left submerged across parts of the county with a number of trees and powerlines falling down including on Stourport Road and Wolverley Road.

There were reports that the A38 in Bromsgrove also flooded with motorists being warned to avoid driving through the flood water.

One van ended up submerged in water at Shell Ford in Droitwich as river levels across the county continued to rise.

The flooding followed a Met Office yellow weather warning that was issued for the region yesterday (Wednesday, October 16) with river levels set to rise further over the next few days.

The flood barriers have been put up by the Environment Agency in Bewdley as the River Severn is set to peak between 4m and 4.5m on Saturday (October 19).

The Environment Agency said: "River levels are rising at the Bewdley river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is expected today (Thursday, October 17).

"We expect flooding to affect low lying land and roads adjacent the river from Highley to Tewkesbury. Locations affected are Stourport, Holt Fleet, Worcester, Kempsey, Severn Stoke and Upton upon Severn, B4195 Stourport Road at Rickets Place, Dog Lane Bewdley, Riverside Path Stourport and B4194 at Ribbesford."
