AN anti-knife campaigner has said it's lucky no one was seriously hurt after a man was threatened with a knife and robbed outside a pub.
Armed officers were sent out to Hewell Road in Redditch after a man was threatened, punched and robbed outside the Railway Inn.
It happened at around 3.20pm on Tuesday afternoon (October 22).
The victim was approached by two people who threatened him with a knife before punching him and stealing his phone, wallet, bracelet, house keys and bike. Officers confirmed that the man did not suffer any serious injuries.
Pete Martin from the Redditch Self Defence group has been involved in helping to tackle the knife crime alongside West Mercia Police for ten years.
He visits schools and colleges, educating young people about the dangers of knife crime.
Reacting to the latest knife incident, Mr Martin said: "I have had a few people contact me about it a bit concerned.
"It's concerning that we are seeing incidents. We have had a couple of incidents over the last few weeks.
"We are just very lucky we haven't had any serious injuries. It just makes you wonder when our luck's going to run out.
"The police response was correct - there was an armed response - another reason not to get involved in knife crime".
A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "We responded immediately, including the deployment of armed officers, due to the report of a knife being used.
"A thorough search of the area was done, and the suspects were not found".
They added: "Officers are appealing for anybody who may have seen the incident or have any information that would help with the investigation.
"Please email NCFTNorthWorcs@westmercia.police.uk
"Alternatively, if you have information but don’t feel comfortable speaking to police, you can speak to the independent charity Crimestoppers.
