A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after a fatal crash.
A 51-year-old man was reportedly hit by a vehicle and was found lying in a layby on the southbound carriageway of the A435 Hollywood Bypass on Sunday night (November 3).
Officers and ambulance crews rushed out to the scene and responded quickly, but the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and a MERIT trauma team were called to the scene.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “When ambulance staff arrived, they found police officers performing CPR on a pedestrian, a man. The team of ambulance staff quickly commenced advanced life support but sadly, despite the best efforts of everyone, nothing could be done to save the pedestrian, and he was confirmed dead on scene.”
Police are appealing for witnesses following the tragic incident, which happened at around 11.55pm.
Inspector Stephanie Arrowsmith from Bromsgrove Roads Policing said: “We have arrested a 53-year-old man on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop.
"He remains in police custody.
“We are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision as they may have information which could help with our investigation.
