A nursery in Redditch was joined by a local celebrity as they marked 10 years of quality childcare for babies and children.

Astwood Smiles Nursery and Pre School opened their doors in 2014 following a full renovation of former pub and Astwood Bank landmark The Coach House.

Passionate about the local community, Astwood Smiles planted an oak tree in Overdale Park at 11am on Saturday (November 2) to commemorate 10 years of service to the community.

Our official anniversary was celebrate during the summer with a week of nursery activities and celebrations, but we wanted to give something back to our local community who we feel so lucky to be part of.

"We chose an oak tree as oak stands for wisdom, strength, longevity, honour and protection. Following help and advice from our friends at Astwood in Bloom, the best time to plant an oak tree is November so we invited family and friends of the nursery and wider community to join us in planting our tree.

"We even had a local celebrity joining us as a surprise."

Overdale Park is visited regularly by the children at Astwood Smiles and is often used as an extension of their own outdoor space including taking the children on nature walks and visits to the neighbouring allotments.

Children will now be able to visit the Astwood Smiles tree to watch it forever grow over time.
