ARRANGEMENTS for bank holiday bin collection days over the festive holiday period have been announced by Redditch Borough Council.
Residents whose bin days would have fallen on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, or New Years Day have revised collection days.
Collections that would have been on Wednesday, December 25, will be done on Monday, December 23 instead.
Thursday December 26 collections will move to Saturday December 28. And for those on Wednesday January 1, the new bin day is Saturday, Jan 4.
There are no other planned changes, with people across Redditch advised to put bins out as normal for waste crews to collect on all other days.
Councillor Sharon Harvey, Redditch Borough Council’s Portfolio Holder for Environmental Services, said: “If your bin day falls on a bank holiday this year please make a note of the revised collection dates, and why not tell your neighbour to help spread the word.
“Please be extra sure to put your bin out before 7am on the revised bin days. Our crews are more likely than normal to need to change routes on those days and come to at a different time than you might be used to.
“And remember, if we have bad weather that disrupts bin collections, the advice is to continue to leave your bins out for 7am, because we will usually plan to get to your bin as soon as we can.”
Councillor Joe Baker, the leader of the council, added: “With all three festive bank holidays happening to fall in midweek this year, plenty of people will have a changed bin day, so we’re issuing this advice nice and early.”
