A CHEF that goes "above and beyond" to bring joy to care home residents through his food has received a prestigious award.
Anas Al Saadi, head chef for Macc Care, who works at the Studley Rose care home, was given the title of the Care Home Chef Award at the East Midlands Regional Great British Care Awards, held last week.
The judging panel commended Anas for his immense passion for care, noting how his love for his parents has shaped the way he cares for others, treating them as if they were his own family.
The panel highlighted his strong background in food, gained from his experience in the hotel industry.
They were particularly impressed by his humble approach and the way he shows great care for his work and the residents he serves.
The panel appreciated that Anas does not remain in the kitchen but actively makes an effort to connect with residents, involving them in activities and fostering a strong sense of community.
In response to winning the award, Anas said: “I am incredibly proud to have received this award. It means so much to me to be able to make a difference in the lives of the residents I care for. Cooking for them is not just about preparing meals, but about creating an environment where they feel valued and at home. I want to thank my team and the residents for their continued support and for inspiring me every day.”
Bhav Amlani, from Macc Care, added: “We’re delighted that Anas has been recognised for his hard work and unwavering commitment to improving the lives of those he serves. We’re very lucky to have him as part of our team.”
