A DESPERATE need for more teachers for remedial children in the town has been revealed by an education survey.
County councillor George Langston claims Redditch’s unemployment figures will continue to rise unless learning problems are ironed out at an early age.
“There will be many delinquents and probably a rising crime rate unless more teachers are employed for slow learners in the first schools – otherwise youngsters will be unwanted in the new technological era”, he said.
The nationwide survey took Redditch as a sample for the county and was carried out by Redditch and Wythall Local Consultative Committee for Education.
Arrow Vale High School claimed a particular need for special teachers for less able learners “who are victims of staffing cuts in our feeder schools,” the report read.
