THE axe will fall on all county council budgets – meaning less cash for Redditch services – if committee recommendations are sanctioned later this month.
But the town’s county councillors say they will fight the proposed 0.6 per cent cut in the budgets before a final decision is made at the full council meeting.
They claim Redditch needs more money this year and that the slightest cut in Government funds would be disastrous.
Redditch’s critical shortage of teachers, reported in last week’s Indicator and Advertiser, will be just one of the problems left unresolved without extra finance the area’s county councillors have claimed.
The recommendation made by the policy review/sub committee, at county hall on Monday was supported by the majority vote of the ruling Conservative party.
A decision will be made on February 23.
