THE monthly meeting of the members of the Redditch Urban District Council was held at the Council House on Tuesday night, when there were present: Messrs F C Dolphin, JP Mann (chairman), C Carlson, ET Moule and the following officials Dr H Stevenson (medical officer of health), Dr N Riviera and AJ Haines.

A number of important issues were discussed including a plea to the Government after the newly-instituted system of grants, the council was told, which has resulted in higher rates this year.

The report and rate proposals of the chairman were circulated to all members, but not read out to the meeting.

It was discussed at some considerable length before a decision was made to press the Government to reconsider the grant.
