A PROPOSED £7 million cut back could mean an end to vital psychiatric and geriatric care services in the new district general hospital in Woodrow.
The plan to reduce primary and secondary health care involves a mammoth drop in budget from £15 million to £8 million plus a four-year delay of the second phase of the district general hospital serving Redditch and Bromsgrove.
The cut has come from a regional health authority directive and has been attacked on all sides.
Areas earmarked for cut backs include a day hospital for psychiatric patients, plus general medicine, general surgical and orthopaedic departments.
Work on Phase Two of the new hospital to provide a psychiatry unit would not start until 1991.
