REDDITCH Library re-opened to the public on Monday following a two-week closure during which the entire library contents were moved and re-organised so that refurbishment works on the premises could continue.
During this time customers were able to use the mobile library service on site to return and choose new books, CDs and DVDs.
A full library service will be provided from the ground floor until the end of this year. A new temporary entrance and ramp at the side of the building will replace the main entrance while major building works are underway.
The refurbished ground floor showcases some of the improvements, including new toilets with disabled and baby change facilities, LED colour-changing mood lighting and fresh décor for the whole area.
The finished library, which is run by Worcestershire County Council, is due to be unveiled to the public in February and will include a new quick pick book selection, new exhibition, meeting and gallery space, glass lift for easy access, bright and fun children's library and a calm read and relax area in which readers can unwind with newspapers, periodicals and a selection of books from around the library.
In order to complete this exciting refurbishment, two further closures will take place on October 29-30 inclusive, reopening on October 1 and January 4-30 inclusive, reopening on February 1.

Angela Wright, Redditch Library manager, said: "It's really exciting to be open to the public again, and to be able to show some of the new look library. Lots of people are already telling us how attractive and welcoming they think it’s looking.
"The whole Redditch team has worked very hard, shifting shelves and sofas as well as trolley loads of books – it's a huge achievement in a very short space of time of which everyone is justifiably proud.
“This is a temporary solution, but our commitment providing a quality service is ongoing. In the next few months we will continue to work hard to create a bright and spacious library with lots of new and interesting opportunities."
