THE launch of a new health and beauty spa in Redditch proved a tremendous success last weekend, raising money for a good cause, and attracting crowds of local people and a TV celebrity.
Jonnie Irwin, presenter of Channel 4’s award-winning show ‘A Place in the Sun’ and the new ‘Dream Lives for Sale’, on Sky 1, was staying at the Southcrest Manor Hotel and took advantage of the new spa facilities. He spent time in the gym, stretching his muscles on the rowing machine, and beat the winter chill by stepping into the new infrared sauna.
Your Exclusive Spa was officially opened by Redditch MP Karen Lumley. This heralded the start of a weekend of celebrations, which included beauty demonstrations, taster Zumba and street dance sessions and fashion shows hosted by Debenhams and Jazz clothing. Visitors were able to tour the spa and treated to complimentary drinks and canapés.
The launch also helped raise money for the British Heart Foundation, the hotel’s chosen charity for 2011. £140 was raised from raffle ticket sales and donations made over the weekend. This was added to £192 which had been raised at Christmas. A presentation of the total amount was made to Clare Cassidy, the BHF’s Worcestershire fundraising volunteer manager.
The spa is open to the general public, as well as hotel guests. For more information, call 541934 or visit www.yourexclusivespa.co.uk.
