POLICE are reminding vehicle owners to remove valuables after a series of thefts in Redditch.

Sat navs, a wallet and a laptop have all been reported stolen in the last few days.

A Hewlett Packard laptop worth £2,000 was stolen from the rear seat of a BMW parked on the car park at Morrisons, Clearwell Road, at around 6pm on Wednesday 7, September.

The vehicle had only been left unattended for five minutes, during which time the offenders smashed the window, causing £60 damage.

A TomTom sat nav worth £100 was stolen from the glovebox of a Peugeot Partner van in Blackmere Road at around midnight on Thursday, September 8 when a window was smashed.

A wallet containing £100 was stolen from a BMW parked on a drive in Lassington Close between 3am and 3.15am on Saturday, September 10.

And, a TomTom sat nav worth £78 was stolen from a Fiat Ibiza in Heronfield Close, Redditch.

The sat nav was stored in a pocket under the steering wheel and the vehicle had possibly been left unlocked.

Peter Aston, West Mercia Police's crime reduction advisor for North Worcestershire, said: "Most vehicle crime is opportunistic and happens as a result of a vehicle being left vulnerable or unsecured, for example doors or windows left unlocked, or valuables such as handbags, laptops, or sat navs left on display.

"It is vital owners remove their valuables and do not leave them in the vehicle.”
