A 62-year-old Redditch bus driver who pleaded guilty to having child porn pictures on his computer has been given the chance to get treatment.
David Marsden, of Ashorne Close in the town, admitted six charges of downloading the pictures, which ranged from 866 at level one, the least serious, to six at the most serious, level five, between August and November, 2008.
He also had 745 images ranging from level 1-5 and eight extreme images found on another computer taken into consideration.
Mary Wallace, prosecuting, told Worcester Crown Court Marsden had just completed a 21-month prison sentence for inciting a 14-year-old girl he met on his bus to engage in sexual activity after contacting her on the internet.
He was not dealt with for the child porn offences at the time.
Judge Patrick Thomas said Marsden would probably have been given a longer prison sentence if the pictures had been included in the first case and would have been able to get the treatment he needed to "protect children in the future."
He gave Marsden a three year community order with supervision and he will have to attend a sex offenders group work programme.
He is also banned from contact with children, which will prevent him working again as a bus driver, and can only use a computer which can be monitored.
