FIREFIGHTERS from Alcester, Bidford, Studley, and five other stations in Warwickshire, were called to a farm in Coughton Fields Lane last night, after they were alerted to a major barn fire at the site.
Fire crews were called out just after 10pm, and on arrival they discovered a fire next to a barn and a field where livestock had been grazing. A straw and bailing machine was well alight.
At the height of the fire, six appliances were in attendance, from Alcester, Studley, Bidford, Leamington, Stratford and Wellesbourne, with relief crews from Nuneaton and Rugby attending the following morning.
Some straw was still alight by rush hour this morning, and Sandwell Lane and Coughton Road remained closed to traffic, so that the incident could be managed.
This fire comes only days after Coughton Parish Council teamed up with Warwickshire Police and local farmers to crack down on the recent rise in barn fires.
