POPULAR historian, Dr Bob Bushaway returns to Astwood Bank this autumn to lead a series of seminars, ‘Albion’s Dreaming’ – Folk Culture and Custom in Britain, 1500 to 2000.
Dr Bushaway will show how England’s history concerns not just the great and the good and the historical events which have shaped our nation, but also a long and visionary account of gods and heroes, myths and legends, dances and songs and rituals.
Folklore has always underpinned the lives of ordinary people in both town and countryside and particpants at the seminars will rediscover and try to comprehend the world of popular custom so often dismissed as merely weird and wacky.
The evening class is held at Astwood Bank Club, Dark Lane, and will run for 20 weeks from this Thursday, September 29 starting at 7.30pm and finishing at 9.30pm. All are welcome and no prior enrolment is needed.
