A CAR has been driven at a man, injuring him, following a road rage incident in Redditch.
The victim, a man in his late 20s, had been involved in a road rage incident minutes before at temporary traffic lights in Prospect Hill when a Renault Scenic pulled out from the junction of Clive Road into the path of his Subaru Impreza, against the lights.
That led to a brief exchange although neither of the drivers got out of their vehicles.
Near the Sainsbury's island the victim saw the same car coming up behind him flashing its lights and with the horn sounding.
He pulled over and got out with a friend to see what the driver wanted, at which point the Scenic was driven straight at him.
He jumped out of the way but the car clipped him, breaking one of his wrists, before making off from the scene.
A short time later while the victim was en route to hospital he stopped his car at the 24-hour garage opposite the Vauxhall dealership on Washford Drive.
He and his friend then spotted the Renault Scenic involved in the earlier incident pulling up at one of the other pumps.
Seconds later it reversed off the forecourt into Washford Drive, drove back towards the island and turned right in the direction of the Woodrow Centre.
The offender was a white man thought to be in his late 30s or early 40s, of stocky build with a round face and either bald or balding.
He had a front seat passenger of similar appearance.
PC Helen Keaney, who is investigating, said: "The victim was in hospital for most of the following evening before the assault was reported to us.
“He has not been able to work since then because of his injury but it could have been a lot more serious had he not managed to jump out of the way when the car was driven at him."
The assault took place shortly after 11.30pm on Wednesday, 14 September.
