CHILDREN are being invited to a special loaves and fishes Messy Harvest Festival later this month.
The session, which runs at St Stephen’s Church, will give youngsters the chance to make soda bread and loaves, as well as fish-shaped items such as fridge magnets and jewellery.
It is being run thanks to a joint venture between the Holy Trinity Parish and Emmanuel Church.
And to end the morning a special ecumenical celebration service will be held acting out the story where Jesus fed thousands of his followers with just five loaves and two fishes.
Reverend Julie Humphries said: “We thought it would be a good idea to hold a joint faith event and use the theme of loaves and fishes for this year’s festival.
“It is a chance for children to use their creativity, and enjoy this popular story from the bible at the same time.”
The festival is on Saturday, October 22 from 10am to noon.
There is no age limit but all children must be accompanied by an adult or carer.
