THE president Margaret Sheldon welcomed us back after the summer break and we started the evening with ‘Jerusalem’ accompanied on the piano by our good friend James.

Margaret then dealt with some of the business as the speaker had not arrived, when like a whirlwind in came Heather Hobbs our demonstrator from Thermomix accompanied by two helpers nicknamed Delia and Nigella.

Heather soon set everything up and proceeded to make lemonade, and cook soup, vegetables, sauces, bread and a delicious sorbet, all in this wonderful gadget, and as she demonstrated, so she had us in fits of laughter with her wonderful sense of humour.

After refreshments the rest of the business was dealt with, including details for next years Warwickshire Federation of Women’s Institutes’ version of the Olympics.

The next outing is to Henley-in- Arden museum on Wednesday, September 28. A board was circulated for names of those wishing to go to the Palace Theatre on October 7.

Irene Humphries has retired after many years of organising the raffle and Margaret thanked her for her support and generosity.

The next meeting is on Thursday, October 13 at 7.30pm in Malt Mill Lane Centre when Pam Sutton will talk on ‘Troop Aid’.

Visitors and new members are welcome to join us.
