A REDDITCH woman is leading the way after receiving Girlguiding UK’s top accolade, the coveted Queen’s Guide Award.
It was presented to Georgette Eaton, 20, after her work into anorexia nervosa and how it could pose a problem to young guides.
Ms Eaton, assistant leader with 1st Headless Cross (St. Luke’s) Rainbows, said: “Following a friend being diagnosed with anorexia, I realised that this was a very real problem for young women, and one that could potentially affect guides or other members I was involved with.
“With this in mind, I carried out some research on the subject and produced some art work in response.
“In addition, I took part in a public speaking competition, with the debate Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and visited my local guide group giving girls confidence to be who they wanted to be.”
The award was presented by Girlguiding UK’s chief guide Gill Slocombe at a special ceremony in Gloucestershire.
Gill Slocombe added: “I hope Georgette will serve as an inspiration to many more young women all over the country who are thinking about getting involved in guiding.”
