A MAN’S fingerprints were discovered by forensic scientists on a door of a car stolen in a Redditch burglary, a jury was told.
Ben Harrison's prints were also found on three stolen number plates from different cars left inside the Rover 25, said prosecutor Alex Warren.
Harrison, aged 21, of Winyates Centre, Redditch, denies six counts of handling stolen goods.
He told police that he was approached by a man in the early hours and asked if he knew anyone who wanted to buy a car.
He took the man to the home of Dominic O'Sullivan in Ipstock Close, Redditch.
Harrison claimed they looked inside the Rover but then realised "something fishy" was going on and wanted nothing to do with the vehicle, said Mr Warren. He rejected the explanation as "a false account".
He told the jury that 24-year-old O'Sullivan had pleaded guilty to the same charges as the defendant before the trial began.
Worcester Crown Court heard that the Rover was stolen from a driveway on June 1 this year after a burglar grabbed the car keys from inside a house.
The car was quickly found by police near O'Sullivan's home with a stolen number plate taped to the rear.
Another stolen plate was on the dashboard and more were on the back seat.
Police discovered Harrison's prints on a rear passenger door and on three number plates. He was arrested four days later.
The trial continues.
