THIS letter is to the so many people who have been so supportive and kind to me over the last weeks.

I am at last back home from hospital and doing my best to make a recovery after my pneumonia attack and two major operations in 17 days.

I am so grateful to those who came to see me in all three hospitals, who sent me cards and letters and made inquiries about me.

It was great comfort.

In all three of those hospitals, The Alex, The Worcester hospital and the hospital at Coventry, I received expert medical and surgical treatment, kindness and care from the nursing staff, even though I know at times I was a bit over-demanding and impatient.

I am grateful to everyone who cared for me and brought me through a difficult time.

There is very little comment that I can pass other than good comments, except perhaps the rubbery bread at Coventry and the sandwich-only menu in the evening at The Alex.

I shall always be grateful for their care and kindness.

A word about those who say harsh words about immigration. But for those people from other countries being here and working in our hospitals, we would not have an NHS service.

Like our British staff, they were kindness itself and I will always be grateful to all of them.

Albert E Wharrad, Ibstock Close, Winyates.
