MY family and I are new to Woodrow and received an invitation to a community fun day on Friday, August 26.
We were looking forward to going because we wanted to join the library but didn’t really know what to expect.
Wow. Whatever we expected wouldn’t have come close to the fabulous day that we had – and all for free. Which, we have to confess, was a bonus as the cost of the school holidays have taken their toll.
We joined the library, chose books, took part in craft activities, planted flowers, made friends (the kids and us), had a free lunch and found out about the local youth club and children’s centre.
We couldn’t have asked for a better introduction to our local community and having the chance to mingle and meet people in such a fun way has meant my children have already made friends in their new schools, and I have met some parents I can talk to, and found out about a course I would like to attend. A really remarkable and uplifting day. Thank you to the library and all of the organisations we met on the day.
