TWO goals from Craig Pountney could do little to lift the gloom at Studley after the Bees crashed to their second defeat in a week.

Midland Alliance strugglers Racing Club Warwick ran out 4-3 winners at the Beehive on Saturday, just days after Studley had lost 4-2 to midweek visitors Friar Lane.

"We have scored five goals which should have been enough to win five games rather than just two," manager Lee Adams explained. "But we have conceded eight goals in the process.

"I don't know if one or two players just turned up on Saturday thinking the game was won before they even started.

"Just when you think it's all going in the right direction, we've conceded more poor goals. We have to look at ourselves defensively as we were ball watching for their first two."

Pountney bagged the first of his double ten minutes before the break only for Warwick to restore their two-goal cushion with a Lee Knight own goal.

"The pleasing thing was that we didn't give up and made it 3-3 with goals from Pounts Pountney and Craig Hall," Adams added. "But we have gifted them a winner with five minutes to go thanks to more poor defending."

The Bees head to Nottinghamshire outfit Staveley Miners Welfare on Saturday in the second qualifying round of the FA Vase.

But they are likely to be without injured pair Danny Styles (chest infection) and Knight (groin).

"It is massive for us to get a result at Staveley," Adams explained. "We have to get back into a winning habit as soon as possible."

Alvechurch's hopes of an extended run in the FA Cup came to an abrupt end at the weekend when they crashed out of the competition 5-0 at Quorn.

But they have another chance of cup glory on Saturday when they take on West Midlands League side Brocton in the FA Vase at Lye Meadow.

"I was disappointed the way we started the game but it wasn't a 5-0 match, Church boss Shaun Cunnington explained.

"They scored with their chances and we had five or six and didn't put any of them away."

Feckenham play host to Loughborough University in the Midland Combination Premier Division on Saturday looking for a return to winning ways after Saturady's 2-1 defeat at leaders Coleshill Town.
