WORCESTERSHIRE'S leading young squash and racketball players will converge on Redditch this weekend for their annual competition.
Energie Fitness Club, in Winyates, wil host the Junior County Closed Squash and Racketball Championships, a three-day event starting on Friday.
Club owner Richard Collins said: "More than 65 u19 squash and racketball players from all over Worcestershire will be competing at our club for the very first time.
"The two sports are played widely at our club and we are keen to encourage more junior players to participate.
"I am also highly delighted that well known local ladies squash player Bett Dryhurst is actively working with the club to develop the junior players. She has been at the forefront of ladies squash for many years and is well respected for her development work with the Worcestershire Squash and Racketball Association".
Collins also praised Dryhurst for her work in bringing top senior players to the town.
"She has also been building a team of world ranked professional squash players to enable Energie Redditch to participate in the national Professional Squash League (PSL) for the very first time," he explained.
"This will mean members and non-members can see at first hand some of the finest squash players in the world."
The new season starts at Energie Redditch on Tuesday, October 9.
