THE ladies/girls section of Astwood Bank Cricket Club has gone from strength to strength despite the weather disrupting both training and matches.
The u13s (pictured) reached the national finals of the Lady Taverners tournament having successfully qualified through the Worcestershire competition and then a regional tournament.
Their first match in the finals, which were staged in Loughborough, was against Yorkshire side Beverley and Astwood Bank lost by just three runs having scored 51 in eight overs.
They then came up against a strong Nonnington side who set the girls a target of 90 and Astwood Bank did well to score 72 in reply.
They lost their final game by five runs but it was a good tournament enjoyed by all the players, three of whom scored more than 20 runs in an innings.
The competition was eventually won by Nonnington.
