RUNNERS from Bromsgrove and Redditch AC will be flying the flag at the National Relays following an excellent display at Midland Road Relay Championships.
The A team came 21st in a field of nearly 90 teams, many from bigger city clubs with impressive records at the event.
Over a 3.65-mile course, the team was lead off by Dave Kesterton who recorded an excellent time of 19:14 to be the club's fastest man on the day.
Paul Atkins then ran a sound 21:46 leg before James Hood, stepping up from the junior ranks and in his first senior event for the club, finished in the good time of 20:33.
Regular Rich Malin, with the second quickest club time of 19:47, kept B&R well in the hunt for qualification places on the fourth leg and qualification was cemented by two new runners, Richard Lomas (21:03) and Richard Shardlow (22:25). The combined time for the A team was 2:04:48.
The event also saw the club put out two other teams. The B team finished in a time of 2:18:10 for 61st position while the C team completed the event in 2:20:26 to finish 68th. The Ladies finished 31st over a shorter course in 1:15:05.
