ANOTHER Redditch United comeback in a 3-2 win over Halesowen Town booked an Emirates FA Cup second qualifying round trip to Shifnal Town on Saturday, September 14.

The first effort at the Valley Stadium on Saturday fell to Jaiden White who curled a shot just wide of the left post.

McKauley Manning then drove into space and shot narrowly wide.

Johnny Johnston was tackled but the ball fell to Musa Ceesay who skied it over.

Alex Cameron then played in Johnston who scuffed his shot into the hands of keeper Daniel Platt.

Halesowen went ahead just before the break after defender Calum Flanagan and debutant keeper Dale Eve misjudged the bounce as Kieren Donnelly headed into an open net.

An instant second-half reaction from Tim Flowers’ men saw them equalise on 48 minutes after Johnston played in White who took the ball around the keeper and slotted home.

Only three minutes later Redditch went ahead when Johnston drove forward and released White who again dribbled around Platt and scored in almost identical fashion.

The Yeltz could have equalised from a sequence of corners but the hosts did well to defend and clear.

Johnston added a third in the 68th minute when Jordan Cranston whipped in a corner to the back post and the young forward headed home.

Halesowen's Nathaniel Kelly and Ryan Wynter could not keep their headers down in response.

And the visitors' Adi Yussuf was shown a straight red card after he lashed out at Max Ram following an aerial challenge.

In stoppage time Donnelly tapped in his second from a scramble in the box but it did not stop Redditch progressing from the first qualifying round tie.

The Reds visit Harborough Town in Southern League Premier Division Central on Saturday (3pm) and host Alvechurch in a derby on Monday (7.45pm).

Church suffered a 3-1 defeat at Anstey Nomads in the same round with Dylan Hadley scoring.

They return to the league at Hitchin Town on Saturday (3pm) before the derby with Redditch.
