Alvechurch Football Club will face Chasetown at home in the second round of the Isuzu FA Trophy.

The clash, on Saturday, November 16, will follow Church's recent victory against Stourbridge, where a goal from Ammar Dyer secured a 1-0 win.

The match took place on a sunny day at the War Memorial Ground, with Alvechurch looking to bounce back after a disappointing game against St Ives Town.

The win marks the club's sixth away victory of the season.

The match got off to a fast start, with Church immediately applying pressure on the hosts.

Some skilful play from Kieran Wakefield play saw him assist Dyer, who scored in just the second minute as he rifled home a low-driven effort into the corner to get the lead for his second consecutive away goal in a row.

As the game progressed, Church continued to look threatening, with Omari Sterling-James coming close to doubling the lead, narrowly missing the target with a shot from the edge of the area.

Both teams struggled to find their rhythm in the following minutes, grappling with the very heavy pitch as the atmosphere got tense.

Church had two more chances to extend their lead before halftime, one of which hit the crossbar.

At halftime, Church led 1-0 but felt they could have scored more.

James Fry and his coaching staff encouraged the team to maintain their focus in the second half.

Alvechurch's defence proved solid, with goalkeeper Ronnie Hollingshead making crucial saves to keep Stourbridge at bay.

Despite the hosts intensifying their attacking efforts, they struggled to convert chances into goals.

Church continued to press for a second goal, with Sterling-James again coming close from a free-kick that hit the crossbar.

In the final minutes, a late attack from Stourbridge was thwarted by Hollingshead's quick reflexes, which saw Church advance to the next round at the final whistle.

With this win, they have matched their total of away victories from last season.

The win capped off a positive week for Church, who also announced the return of goalkeeper Dale Eve from Redditch United, who was on the bench on Saturday, and the loan signing of midfielder Matt Richards from West Bromwich Albion, who made his debut in the fixture.

Alvechurch will next visit AFC Sudbury on Saturday (November 2) at 3pm and then Evesham United in the Worcestershire FA Senior Cup on Tuesday (November 5) at 7.45pm.
